Calling a runner for leaving early (softball)

If a runner leaves early, immediately call “time” and the runner out.  Instruct all other runners back to their original bases.

- The age level of softball determines when a runner is allowed to leave their base.  There are also other leaving early violations specific to softball that can be found at differences between baseball and softball

-  The main penalty for leaving early is that the offending runner is immediately called out.  An immediate call for “time” halts all play.  Any other runners must return to their original bases.  A hit by the batter is also nullified by the time out call.

-  In the video, the play started with a runner on 1B who left early.  The runner is immediately called out and all play stops at that time.
