Reverse Pivot Technique
The reverse pivoting technique enables you to quickly switch your view from a throw to the play. It can be used in many situations, whether you’re inside or outside the base path. The video shows an example of the technique at first base. There are many more examples shown in other videos.
After a hit, quickly jog to the position where you want to make the call from, with your chest facing to the ball. When the fielder releases the ball, reverse pivot on your foot to observe the play at the base / runner.
This technique allows you to be set (not moving) during both the fielding play and the spot at which the ball is being thrown to. It allows you to make a quick transition and maintain your balance.
