Signaling a foul tip

Things to know regarding a foul tip

- Play continues to be "live" after you signal a foul tip.

-  Runners and defenders may continue play until the pitching battery (pitcher and catcher) are ready for the next pitch.  This is the opposite of a foul ball when all subsequent play stops and runners are returned to the bases they occupied prior to the foul ball call.

-  Since a foul tip involves a swinging strike, it is not necessary to call out "strike" unless you want to reinforce that the result is a strike versus a foul ball.
